This year we planned three days of fire at Mount Diablo and successfully burned just under 150 acres. Why were we lighting fires on purpose? Join us for a hands-on look at some of the gear fire crews carry, meet environmental resource staff who were part of the effort, discover how fire can help the park, and take a walk to see what's happening to the areas now that nature is adding water.

 

Adults, and families with children age 7 and up are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The walk is approximately 1.5 miles. Bring water, dress in layers, and wear good hiking shoes. If it has been raining, be prepared for mud on the walk portion of the program. Bring poles if you normally use them. If trails are muddy, we may shorten or alter the route. If you choose to join…
