"Saving and protecting Mount Diablo for all the flora and fauna is of paramount importance, but educating the public, especially upcoming generations as to the significance of biodiversity, whether the smallest microbe or an apex predator like a mountain lion, is also crucial. The new Education Center at Mitchell Canyon will help us accomplish this urgent mission. "

— Michael Marchiano, Naturalist, and MDIA volunteer

Consider this your invitation to inspiration:

We invite you to join us in building the new Mitchell Canyon Education Center

MDIA has officially launched a campaign to build a new Education Center at the Mitchell Canyon entrance to Mount Diablo State Park. This Educational Center will greatly improve the services to the 35,000 visitors currently visiting Mitchell Canyon each year; it will also open many opportunities for us to serve students of all ages. This center will become a vital part of reaching these students, a capacity we do not currently have.

Our campaign is to raise $3 million in the next 18 months to make this center a reality. Please join us in inspiring new protectors and champions of Mt. Diablo with a tax-deductible contribution to the Campaign for the Mitchell Canyon Education Center on Mount Diablo. Your gift will leave a legacy of education, protection, and wonder for present and future generations.
