Join us for a spirited pre-Halloween walk in Mount Diablo State Park!
On this family-friendly walk, we'll stroll up Mitchell Canyon in search of witches' broom, devil's horns, ghost pines, and other scary and not-so-scary signs of the season. But first, we'll meet the famous 8-legged diva, Scarlett O'Harry (a tarantula) and her sidekick, Wishbone (also a tarantula), examine the skins and skulls of some of our native Bay Area fauna, and hear the tale of Bully Ingram, a pirate who jumped ship and took up residence in a cave near Mitchell Canyon!
This is an easy hike of about 2-miles round trip with a hundred feet in elevation gain. Bring water, snacks, dress in layers, and wear good hiking shoes. There is a $6 per vehicle park entrance fee ($5 for seniors). Exact cash required; pay at the entrance gate. You may also pay digitally by…
