About the event

Description: Have you ever wondered what the first plants to colonize land looked like? Have you ever wondered about what kind of plants were present when dinosaurs roamed the earth? Did you know you can find such plants, from the dawn of plant-life on land onwards into the dinosaur era, still existing within the boundaries of Mount Diablo SP? Join botanist Chris Chastain for a presentation on a fascinating and often overlooked flora of the State Park that represents successive stages of plant evolution: The Bryophytes (mosses, hornworts, and liverworts), the Seedless Vascular Plants (ferns and horsetails) and the Gymnosperms (coniferous trees).
