About the event
As America celebrates its 250th anniversary, a significant historical commemoration will take place atop Mt. Diablo to mark the 175th anniversary of the establishment of the Mount Diablo Initial Point on July 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Presented by Mount Diablo State Park, the Mount Diablo Surveyors Historical Society, and the Mount Diablo Interpretive Association, the public is invited to drop by and explore antique and modern surveying equipment, visit informational booths, and enjoy hands-on activities highlighting land surveying activities and the settlement and development of this region of the American Far West.
Parking is available in the lower summit parking lot which also has restrooms, picnic tables, a pedestrian trail and paved road to walk the ¼ mile to the tower. The summit parking lot will also have parking, but with limited spaces. For more information, check out the MDSHS website at mdshs.org.
