Found in open areas (usually scattered trees), including savannah-habitats.
Typical plumage includes pale gray breast and head, yellowish underparts, short, black bill, a black tail with white outer tail feathers (easily seen in flight), and pale gray back. Song is a series of harsh, twittering notes, rapidly given.
Cup-shaped nest containing twigs, small roots, and plant down is placed in trees, shrubs, and sometimes on a variety of man-made structures (e.g., utility poles). Diet consists primarily of insects, less commonly fruits.
