Oak Titmouse

A specialist of oak and pine-oak woodlands; but also frequents chaparral interspersed with trees or tall shrubs.

This is a drab, grayish brown bird; note the crest, however, which is diagnostic of titmice. Previously known as the Plain Titmouse until the late 1990s, when it was split from that species and given its current name. Oak Titmice are non-migratory and mate for life.

Nests in natural cavities. Feeds on both plant and animal matter.
