Hike: Halloween on Devil Mountain
Saturday, October 26, 2024
Kevin Hintsa
3:30 - 6:00 PM
Location: We'll assemble near the Mitchell Canyon Visitor Center.
Join us for a spirited Halloween walk on Mount Diablo. We'll stroll up Mitchell Canyon in search of witches' broom, ghost pines, and other scary and not so scary signs of the season. But first, we'll meet the famous 8-legged diva, Scarlett O'Harry (a tarantula), examine the skins and skulls of some of our native Bay Area fauna, and hear the tale of Bully Ingram, a pirate who jumped ship and took up residence in a cave near Mitchell Canyon!
This is an easy hike of two miles roundtrip with little elevation change. Bring water, snacks, dress in layers, wear good hiking shoes, and bring a flashlight. Rain cancels.
