Meet at the parking lot at entrance to Juniper Campground off Summit Road.

This classic loop provides outstanding views of the Bay Area, the Great Central Valley and the distant Sierra Nevada, all unfolding as we circumambulate the Park’s dominant peak via Deer Flat, Prospectors Gap, Devils Elbow and Oak Knoll. Late spring wildflowers should be abundant. Allow 6 hours for this 7.5 mile hike with a total elevation gain of about 2000 feet. Steady relaxed pace with a 30-minute lunch and other rest breaks. Bring layered clothing, a hat, lunch and lots of water. Be prepared for poison oak and warm temperatures. Allow extra time on State Park roads due to cyclists traffic.

Sponsored by Mount Diablo State Park and the Sierra Club.
