Meet in front of Mitchell Canyon Visitor Center.

After making our way to Donner Canyon, we will climb to the rocky perch of Mt. Olympia where great views abound. From there we will wind our way to Prospectors Gap and descend via Bald Ridge, Deer Flat and Mitchell Canyon. Wildflowers should be abundant. Allow 8.5 hours for this 12 mile hike with a total elevation gain of about 3200 feet. Caution: parts of the route are very steep with considerable loose rock. This hike has a steady relaxed pace with a 30-minute lunch and other rest breaks. Be prepared for mud and poison oak. Any rain cancels.

Sponsored by Mount Diablo State Park and the Sierra Club.
