Meet at the parking lot at Curry Point trailhead off South Gate Road.

We will descend into lovely riparian Curry Canyon before climbing steeply to a ridge just below Windy Point. From there we will return to the trailhead via Knobcone Point Rd., passing by iconic Balancing Rock. This hike features outstanding views of the Diablo summit, North Peak, Riggs Canyon and Highland Ridge. Wildflowers should be abundant. Allow 6 hours for this 8 mile hike with a total elevation gain of about 1200 feet. This hike has a steady relaxed pace with a 30-minute lunch and other rest breaks. Be prepared for mud and poison oak. There will be a few metal gates to climb over. There is no restroom at the trailhead. Any rain cancels. Note: permission has been granted from Save Mount Diablo to pass through part of its Curry Ranch property.

Sponsored by Mount Diablo State Park and the Sierra Club.
