Black Point hike

Organization: MDIA

Leader: Jake Van Akkeren This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Meet: Mitchell Canyon trailhead

Fee: $6.00 per car

Description: We’ll leave the riparian zone of Mitchell Canyon and wind our way up to the summit of Black Point (elev. 1791’) enjoying the abundant wildflowers as we climb. The descent (at times quite steep) will provide expansive views toward the west as the trail winds its way down to White Canyon through thick stands of chaparral. We’ll then return to the trailhead following in part the lovely Globe Lily Trail . Allow 4 hours for this 4.5 mile hike with an elevation gain of about 1200 feet. Steady relaxed pace with snack break. Be prepared for mud and poison oak. Rain cancels.
