It's Tarantula Time

From October 13, 2013 11:00 am until October 13, 2013 2:00 pm

At Summit Museum Mount Diablo State Park Fire Interpretive Trail, Walnut Creek, CA 94598, USA

Categories: Presentation

It is Tarantula time, the gentle Giants of Mt Diablo and their eight legged kin.

Those male tarantulas are at it again. Out of their burrow at the beginning of September they start their wander-lust over the hillsides and crossing roadways looking for the web covered burrows of a pretty female tarantula. Every year at this time people are surprised by the large but gentle and harmless spiders they see along the roads and on the trails. Come and learn about the lives of these special creatures from Naturalist Michael Marchiano in the Summit Audio visual room from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Be ready for a close encounter of the third kind with these fascinating creatures.
