Please join us for a leisurely-paced, morning to early afternoon hike in the Castle Rock area on the western edge of Mount Diablo State Park. We will begin our walk in the Castle Rock Recreation Area, and proceed along Pine Canyon in Diablo Foothills Regional Park, which affords (and rewards) hikers with magnificent views of the Castle Rock formation. We will then hike a trail that leads uphill, around and behind the rock spires. Once we reach the end of the trail, we will turn around and retrace our steps back the way we came. The pinnacle area is home to peregrine falcons, and as a result is closed to the public during the nesting season from February 1st to July 31st each year. Please note: Dogs are not allowed on this hike, or on any other trails in Mount Diablo State Park. Bring water and snacks, binoculars if you have them. Rain cancels.
