Description: Start off the New Year with an outing on the north side of Mt. Diablo featuring spectacular views of the main peak and adjacent canyons. The day will include three parts: hike, trailhead lunch, hike. First, we’ll hike up to Black Point (4.5 mi., 1200 ft. elev. gain). This will be followed by lunch alongside lovely Mitchell Creek. Then it’s off to climb Twin Peaks (4.5 mi., 1200 ft. elev. gain). It’s possible to do just the Black Point section or just the Twin Peaks section. For those only wanting to do Twin Peaks, please gather in front of the Visitor Center at 1:00. Bring layered clothing, sturdy comfortable hiking shoes, lunch and plenty of water. Be prepared for mud and poison oak. Steady relaxed pace. Please remember that dogs are not permitted on the trails and fire roads of Mt. Diablo State Park. Rain cancels.
