FamilyManzanitas, Spanish for little apples, are handsome shrubs with lustrous red bark, stiff leaves, and clusters of apple-like fruits. This marvelously varied group of shrubs is typically Californian, extending from the seashores to the highest mountain forests, and is especially prolific under harsh conditions found in chaparral. |
