These articles are reproduced without change from original historic source material. They were obtained principally from research at the Bancroft Library and the California State Mineralogy Museum. These articles are from publications contemporary to the events discussed. Many of the place names have changed. and many of the scientific views they reflect are greatly outdated.

They are available in a bound volume that I prepared several years ago, one copy kept at the state park office.
