Trail Signage Program
Started in 1993, MDIA's Trail Signage Program is an ongoing project
designed to ensure that there are clear and complete trail and directional signs on all of

Programs
MDIA periodically hosts school groups and other organizations for programs on the
history, wildlife, plants and geology of Mt. Diablo. For more information or to arrange a

Trail Through Time Project
MDIA is playing a major roll in an ambitious plan to create an Geology
interpretive trail from near the Blackhawk community to the summit of Mt. Diablo. The
project is in cooperation with the State Park, University of California Museum of
Paleontology, and MDIA. Visit our Trail Through Time page for

Publications
MDIA publishes a number of books, pamphlets, and newletters. Please refer to the MDIA Publications Page and the MDIA

Hikes
MDIA sponsors hikes at Mt. Diablo during the year. Representative thems include:
spring wildflowers and geology walks. The annual tarantula hike in the fall is always
popular. Check our Event Schedule for topics and contents.
Environmental Projects
MDIA assists with a variety of environmental projcets at Mt. Diablo State Park.
These include the on-going Trash Removal Program that we sponsor. MDIA is part of the Adopt A Trail Program taking on the responsibility of
maintaining the Globe Lily Trail in Mitchell Canyon. We also assist other individual and
organizations with their efforts. For example we work with the Boy Scouts on projects they

Mitchell Canyon Visitor Center
The Mitchell Canyon Visitor Center
is located in Mount Diablo State Park at the south end of Mitchell Canyon Road in
Clayton,CA. Operated by MDIA, the Center displays various aspects of Mt. Diablo
State Park, such as geology, wildlife, trails, and plant life. Interpretive materials
about the Park, such as geology, wildlife, and plants, are for sale. We welcome all
visitors to this part of the State Park to stop in. |
