"BRIEF MENTION--THE OPEN SESAME MINING CO."

The mines of this company are located on the flanks of Mount Diablo, and consist of thirteen locations, on as many different lodes. The principal part of the work thus far done, has been confined to three localities--the San Pedro la Verdad, the White Diamond and the La Feliz. Upon the former, two tunnels have been sunk, developing good ore, most admirably located for taking out rock. Upon the La Feliz, located about 300 feet distant from the first mentioned, work is now being actively pressed, and a considerable quantity of ore is already upon the dump. A lot of 92¼. lbs of this ore, was taken, unassorted, and worked in Farrand's amalgamator, on Commercial street, in this city [San Francisco], and yielded, according to report, at the rate of $156 to the ton. A tunnel has been commenced at the White Diamond, developing a promising ledge, but from which only a small quantity of rock has yet been taken. The ledges belonging to this company have recently been examined by L. K. Lamson, as an expert, from whose report we condense. Mr Lamsom expresses the opinion that a thirty stamp mill can be kept busy upon rock, which can be taken from these mines, and that the rock is of a good paying character. The company has levied an assessment of $1 for every share of ten feet, the proceeds of which are to be applied to the construction of a mill near the mines of the company.
